Finding a Certified Sex TherapistVideo Description:Sex therapy is a great help to many couples, but it's not wise to put your sex life in the hands of a hustler! Here's how to find a great guru of your own. Transcript:You’ve decided to take the plunge and see a sex therapist, but have no idea how to find one. Here’s help!  Before you seek out a sex therapist, start by making an appointment with your physician.  This will allow you to rule out any underlying medical conditions that could be causing sexual problems. A physician may also be able to recommend a credentialed therapist. When conducting your search, know that there is a difference between a sex therapist and a sex surrogate!  A sex surrogate actually engages in sex with patients to help them sort through issues, while a sex therapist engages in discussion to do the same thing. Because almost anyone can label themselves a sex therapist, ensure that yours is legit.  You can do this by getting a referral from an established sex therapy organization, like the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Remember, that you must feel comfortable with your sex therapist for treatment to be effective. If you don’t, move on quickly!
