Breathing for Better Sex Video Description: When you're having sex, breathing is the last thing on your mind. But your breathing sets your tempo, and in the bedroom, good rhythm is a LOT better than bad rhythm.
Expert: Kendra Coppey
Transcript: It’s probably not what you’re thinking about when you’re having sex, but your breathing can have a huge impact on what you get out of the experience. When you’re having sex, it’s natural to focus on the person you are with and the sensations you are experiencing. What you may not realize is that while your attention is on these pleasurable pursuits, your breathing is what sets the tempo for the experience, and when you are in the bedroom, good rhythm is an awful lot better than bad rhythm.  Think about your breath like the drummer in your own personal band: the drum’s percussive beat isn’t always the sound in the forefront, but it sets the pace and ties the beat together by giving it a cadence. Breath works the same way during sex. No one is suggesting that you think about breathing during sex. But, a little bit of preparation can help you keep a better rhythm in bed, and maybe even play an extra set or two. There are some simple exercises you can than can do to enhance your breathing and improve your sex life. When you are doing these exercises, think about this: it’s not just that better breathing means a better sexual rhythm – improved breathing also means better blood flow, which can give you a stronger erection or enhanced sensation in your clitoris. Both of which are rather desirable during sex. Now that I’ve got your attention I’m going to show you some breathing exercises you can do on your own.  Deep abdominal breathing is the key to breathing for better sex. This is how you do it:  There are also breathing exercises that you can do with your partner. Although these exercises provide the same benefits as the other exercises, they also can be intimate and intensify the impact of using breath to enhance your sex life.  Breathing in tandem….It’s okay if you aren’t convinced yet – lots of people are skeptical at first. But here’s the thing – all of the skeptics are people who haven’t tried it. Give it a real effort for a couple of weeks and then we’ll see if you are still a skeptic. See you later!  Want to have even more Better Sex? Check out other videos in this series for lots of ways to get the most out of your sex life.
